“Three suspects have been arrested,” said Danpomdam Jaya Colonel Cpm Irsyad Hamdie Bey Anwar when contacted, Monday (28/8/2023).
Irsyad said that all the suspects in the case were members of the TNI. However, only Praka RM of the 3 suspects is part of the Presidential Security Force (Paspamres).
“TNI all three. One is from Paspampres and the other is not,” said Irsyad.
“(Two other suspects) from the Directorate of Topography and the Iskandar Muda Military Command unit,” he added.
As previously reported, a young man was allegedly abused by members of the Presidential Guard to death in Jakarta. The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday (12/8/2023) and had gone viral on social media.
Responding to this case, Danpaspampres Major General Rafael Granada Baay said the perpetrator had the initials Praka RM and served in the Paspampres State Protocol Guard Battalion (Yonwalprotneg).
According to Rafael, currently the suspected abuse case has been handled by Pomdam Jaya. He said the perpetrators had also been detained at Pomdam Jaya.
“Regarding the incident of persecution above, currently the authorities, namely Pomdam Jaya, are carrying out an investigation into the alleged involvement of members of the Paspampres,” said Rafael Granada Baay to reporters, Sunday (27/8/2023).
Rafael further explained that Pomdam Jaya is currently still conducting inspections of Praka RM. If proven to have committed a criminal offense, the person will be prosecuted legally.
“The suspect is currently being detained at Pomdam Jaya for information and for investigation purposes,” he said.
“If it is truly proven that Paspampres members have committed a criminal act as alleged above, they will definitely be processed legally in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” he added.
